Residual flexibility in the topologically constrained multivalent complex between the GKAP scaffold and LC8 hub proteins

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The scaffold protein GKAP and the hub protein LC8 form a well‐defined hexameric complex, with the stoichiometry of 2 GKAP : 2 LC8 dimers. NMR and molecular dynamics calculations confirm that the LC8‐binding segment of GKAP is intrinsically disordered even in the complex form.

A MIP Backend for the IDP System

open access: yes, 2016
The IDP knowledge base system currently uses MiniSAT(ID) as its backend Constraint Programming (CP) solver. A few similar systems have used a Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) solver as backend. However, so far little is known about when the MIP solver is preferable. This paper explores this question.

Decoding Sequence-Ensemble Relationships of IDPS [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2014
Synthesis of various independent observations suggests that IDPs can be classified as globule vs. coil formers based on their net charge per residue. Closer scrutiny of the resultant classifications reveals considerable complexity and conformational richness that is masked by considerations of amino acid composition alone.

Structural insights for enhanced ROS detoxification of eKatE, a recently identified catalase in atypical E. coli

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
We revealed the crystal structure of eKatE from atypical E. coli. eKatE exhibits a hydrogen‐peroxide‐sensitive major channel, a stabilized dimeric interface, an unusual covalent bond between C392 and Y415, and other distinctive features. These structural features contribute to its enhanced catalase activity compared to KatE in typical E.

Outward FDI and the Investment Development Path in Romania [PDF]

open access: yes
Our study characterizes the outward FDI phenomenon in Romania in the light of Dunning’s Investment Development Path theory, based on the relationship between a country’s development level and its net international investment position, that has previously

Sleep Health and White Matter Integrity in the UK Biobank

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Many people experience impaired sleep health, yet knowledge about its neurobiological correlates is limited. As previous studies have found associations between white matter integrity and several sleep traits, white matter integrity could be causally implicated in poor sleep health.

Analytical electron microscopy of fine-grained phases in primitive interplanetary dust particles and carbonaceous chondrites [PDF]

open access: yes
In order to describe the total mineralogical diversity within primitive extraterrestrial materials, individual interplanetary dust particles (IDPs) collected from the stratosphere as part of the JSC Cosmic Dust Curatorial Program were analyzed using a ...

Association of Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Animal Ownership With Relapse to Acute Malnutrition Among Children Aged 6–59 Months in Mali, South Sudan and Somalia: A Multi‐Site Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesMaternal &Child Nutrition, EarlyView.
Relapse rates post‐SAM treatment varied: 32% in Mali, 63% in South Sudan, 21% in Somalia. Diverse WASH and animal ownership factors were linked to relapse risk, differing by context. Some WASH conditions increased risk, whereas animal ownership was protective in Mali and South Sudan. No significant associations emerged in Somalia.
