Analyzing IDPs in Interactomes

2020
Intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) and regions (IDRs) are commonly found in all proteomes analyzed so far. These proteins/regions are subject to numerous posttranslational modifications (PTMs) and alternative splicing, are involved in a wide range of cellular functions, and often facilitate protein-protein interactions (PPIs).

The nanny model for IDPs

Nature Chemical Biology, 2009
Intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) are subject to ubiquitin-independent degradation, a default and passive process. We describe here a model wherein a group of 'nanny' proteins function to protect newly synthesized IDPs from degradation by default, thereby insuring their maturation into important regulatory molecules.
