Bringing IEC 61850 and Smart Grid together

2011 2nd IEEE PES International Conference and Exhibition on Innovative Smart Grid Technologies, 2011
In a world where Smart Grid is the hype, a crucial prerequisite for true “smart” transmission and distribution networks is currently missing; open standards-based communications must be available for the entire “monitoring, control and protection” chain.

IEC 61850 prototype design

ISGT 2011, 2011
In this paper, we discuss information model of IEC 61850 protocol. We give the prototype design of information model of IEC 61850 and study record accessing times. We suggest use of real time main memory database model for IEC 61850. We also use TLSF memory allocator for assigning memory to records in IEC 61850 prototype.
