The Lack of a COPII Cargo Receptor Erv14 Impacts Physiological Functions of the Vacuole in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

open access: yesTraffic, Volume 27, Issue 2, June 2026.
Loss of the cargo receptor Erv14 in Saccharomyces cerevisiae results in sensitivity to calcium, zinc, neutral extracellular pH, and elevated temperature. Furthermore, cells deleted in the ERV14 exhibits vacuolar fragmentation, enlarged lipid droplets, and metabolic alterations. Ruiz Salas, J. L. (2026) https://BioRender.com/b65g523. Situating African FinTech in Global Financial Networks

open access: yesTransactions of the Institute of British Geographers, Volume 51, Issue 2, June 2026.
Short Abstract This paper explores the geographical patterns of firm creation and investments in African FinTech and how they have evolved since the emergence of FinTech on the continent. Our findings show waves of investment, specialisation of different FinTech centres and the networks of FinTech capital.

Intensified demulsification and separation of thermal oxide reprocessing interfacial crud (THORP-IFC) simulants

open access: yesGreen Processing and Synthesis, 2012
Reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel for the recovery of the fissionable materials (mainly uranium and plutonium), is performed by solvent extraction. Thermal oxide reprocessing (THORP) is the most widely used technique in which processing fluids gradually

Long‐Range Polariton Canalization in a Graphene‐Nanoribbon–Covered MgTeMoO6 Metasurface

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
Simulated Re(Ez) field distributions at ω = 924 cm−1 for the graphene grating, MgTeMoO6 grating, the proposed hybrid structure, and the corresponding IFCs in (kx, ky) space are shown. Re(Ez) field maps in the x–y plane at ω = 924 cm−1 for Ef = 50, 70, 74, 76, 80, and 88 meV.

Isoelectronic Alloying in Zintl Phases Mediated the Avoided Crossing and Phonon Softening

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 3, May 2026.
A small amount of Hf doping endows Zr3Ni3Sb4‐Zintl with an unusually low thermal conductivity far exceeding that of similar systems. Two unique phonon mechanisms—avoided crossing and phonon softening—significantly suppress the lattice thermal conductivity. The average thermoelectric figure of merit is improved by 21%.

CONCERT: A Modular Reconfigurable Robot for Construction

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, Volume 43, Issue 3, Page 1332-1362, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper presents CONCERT, a fully reconfigurable modular collaborative robot (cobot) for multiple on‐site operations in a construction site. CONCERT has been designed to support human activities in construction sites by leveraging two main characteristics: high‐power density motors and modularity. In this way, the robot is able to perform a

Causal role of genetically predicted impairment of branched‐chain amino acid catabolism on insulin secretion and insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 5, Page 3849-3860, May 2026.
Abstract Background Elevated branched‐chain amino acids (BCAAs; leucine, valine, isoleucine) are linked to type 2 diabetes (T2D) risk, characterised by defective insulin secretion in pancreatic β‐cell and peripheral insulin resistance. Causative interaction between BCAA metabolism and these two diabetic pathogenesis remains unclear.
