Antioxidant enzymes and non-enzymatic antioxidants as defense mechanism of salinity stress in cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp)—Ife brown and Ife bpc

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre, 2021
Background Several mechanisms had been exhibited by plants to mitigate deleterious effects of salinity stress. A screen house experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of salinity stress on the activities of osmolytes (antioxidative and non ...

Embedding If and Only If [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Philosophical Logic, 2011
Some left-nested indicative conditionals are hard to interpret while others seem fine. Some proponents of the view that indicative conditionals have No Truth Values (NTV) use their view to explain why some left-nestings are hard to interpret: the embedded conditional does not express the truth conditions needed by the embedding conditional.

Ordered modulation of electronic structure for efficient alkaline hydrogen oxidation

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
We developed imc‐RuGa/hp‐hCN catalyst using in situ elastic spatial confinement method. This catalyst exhibits superior performance for the alkaline HOR, maintaining stable operation for 600 h at a 0.05 V versus RHE working voltage in 0.1 M KOH. It achieved 13 times greater mass activity than commercial PtRu/C.

Recent advances in multifunctional soft robots: A materials–structures–systems co‐design perspective for synergistic integration

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
Abstract Soft robots, engineered from highly compliant materials, offer superior adaptability and safety in unstructured environments compared to their rigid counterparts. Recent advancements, fueled by bio‐inspiration and material programmability, have led to the rapid co‐evolution of their core modules: actuation, sensing, protection, energy, and ...

Correlation of anthropometric parameters with serum progesterone levels for the prediction of ovulation in infertile women in Ile‐Ife, Nigeria

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To correlate anthropometric parameters with serum levels of progesterone (P4) for the prediction of ovulation in infertile women. Methods Body mass index (BMI), cormic index (CI), waist‐hip ratio (WHR), waist‐height ratio (WHtR), neck circumference (NC) and triceps skinfold thickness (TSF) were measured for 60 anovulatory and ...

Novel Laboratory Approaches in Heavy Chain Disease With Discordant Immunoglobulin Quantitation: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
In this study, we investigated a rare case of γ‐heavy chain disease (γ‐HCD) through an integrated laboratory approach. Routine protein analyses (serum protein electrophoresis, immunotyping, and serum/urine immunofixation) identified an IgG monoclonal component without detectable light chains.

Sewage Sludge and Cashew Bagasse Biochars Promote Changes in Selected Physical Attributes Related to the Structure of Degraded Dryland Soil

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
This study evaluated biochars from co‐pyrolysis of sewage sludge and cashew residues on physical quality of a degraded loamy sand soil. SPB applied at 20 Mg ha−1 reduced bulk density by 7.74%, whereas most porosity attributes were driven by soil reconsolidation rather than biochar. Aggregate stability varied with biochar type, with SPB promoting larger
