Insulin-like growth factor-I improves cerebellar dysfunction but does not prevent cerebellar neurodegeneration in the calcium channel mutant mouse, leaner

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2003
The effects of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) on cerebellar dysfunction and neurodegeneration were investigated in leaner mice, which exhibit cerebellar ataxia and neurodegeneration related to P/Q-type calcium channel mutations.

Lactoferrin Deficiency During Lactation Causes Adult Obesity‐Related Metabolic Disease Through Persistent Adipose Dysfunction Driven by Impaired Adipocyte Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lactational lactoferrin deficiency exerts lasting effects on epididymal adipose tissue development from lactation into adulthood: it impairs adipocyte hyperplasia and induces pathological hypertrophy, resulting in lower body weight yet exacerbated metabolic dysfunction under a high‐fat diet in adulthood.

Growth hormone/insulin-like growth factor I axis in health and disease states: an update on the role of intra-portal insulin

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
Growth hormone (GH) is the key regulator of insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) generation in healthy states. However, portal insulin delivery is also an essential co-player in the regulation of the GH/IGF-I axis by affecting and regulating hepatic GH ...

IGF-I and IGFBP-3 levels and their correlations with carcinoembryonic antigen in colorectal cancer patients

open access: yesAlexandria Journal of Medicine, 2018
Background: Colorectal cancer is one of the most frequently seen cancers worldwide. Currently, CEA is the most commonly used tumor marker in colorectal cancer. The changes in IGF/IGFBP equilibrium is also known to cause carcinogenesis.

Aging Impairs IGF-I Receptor Activation and Induces Skeletal Resistance to IGF-I

open access: yesJournal of Bone and Mineral Research, 2007
Abstract IGF-I plays an important anabolic role in stimulating bone formation and maintaining bone mass. We show that the pro-proliferative, anti-apoptotic, and functional responses to IGF-I in bone and BMSCs decrease with aging. These changes are associated with impaired receptor activation and signal transduction through the MAPK and ...

Renal IGFBP6 Interacts With THBS1 to Drive Renal Cellular Senescence and Fibrosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Epithelial dedifferentiation and myofibroblast activation are critical drivers of chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression. Elevated levels of IGFBP6 have been linked to decreased renal function in CKD patients, but its precise role and underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

mTORC2 Phosphorylation of GSDME‐N Drives Cullin4B‐Mediated Proteasomal Degradation to Suppress Pyroptosis and Confer Radioresistance in Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Radioresistance severely limits the efficacy of therapies for small cell lung cancer (SCLC). This study reveals a novel mechanism of resistance driven by the active suppression of pyroptosis. Specifically, the mTORC2 complex directly phosphorylates GSDME‐N and promotes its CUL4B‐mediated ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation.

Heritability and Correlation Estimates for Serum Insulin-like Growth Factor I Concentration, Weight, Weight Gain, and Height in Angus Beef Cattle in a Long-Term Divergent Selection Study for Serum Insulin-like Growth Factor I (1989 to 2017)

open access: yesAnimals
This study investigated the genetic parameters for serum IGF-I concentrations and growth traits in beef cattle. A divergent selection experiment for serum IGF-I concentration was initiated in 1989. One hundred spring-calving (50 high line and 50 low line)

Beyond Potency: Emerging Determinants and Optimization Strategies Enhancing Therapeutic Efficacy of Adult Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Adult stem cell therapy requires more than high in vitro potency. This review proposes a systems framework in which cell‐intrinsic programs, instructive microenvironmental cues, and pre‐/post‐delivery engineering are co‐designed under standardized translational rules.

DA Negatively Regulates IGF-I Actions Implicated in Cognitive Function via Interaction of PSD95 and nNOS in Minimal Hepatic Encephalopathy

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2017
Insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) has been positively correlated with cognitive ability. Cognitive decline in minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) was shown to be induced by elevated intracranial dopamine (DA). The beneficial effect of IGF-I signaling
