Genetic inference of orchid population dynamics on different‐aged lava flows in Costa Rica

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 55, Issue 1, Page 95-105, January 2023., 2023
Volcán Arenal lava flows represent natural, non‐anthropogenic habitat disturbance that permit precise knowledge of when these sites became available for colonization. By examining the levels and spatial distribution of genetic variation of five Epidendrum radicans populations growing on lava flows deposited in 1968 and 1992, we were able to infer ...

Tertiary Igneous Rocks of the Pyrenees [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1917
THE review of the treatise of Beyschlag, Vogt, and Krusch in NATURE of August 3, 1916, gives prominence to their mention of supposed absence of Tertiary igneous rocks. Yet even their pages figure grey-copper veins of Los Arcos cutting Tertiary beside ophite and granite intrusions.

Petrological characteristics, reservoir property and oil-bearing potential of intrusive rocks in well Shaduo 1, Qintong Sag, Subei Basin

open access: yesShiyou shiyan dizhi
Igneous rock oil and gas reservoir has gradually become an important type of oil and gas reservoir, but the igneous rock reservoir is highly heterogeneous, the reservoir property varies greatly, and the study of reservoir genetic mechanism is ...

Relationship between Brittleness Index and Crack Initiation Stress Ratio for Different Rock Types

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
Brittleness and crack initiation stress (σci) are important rock mechanical properties and intrinsically related to rock deformation and failure. We establish the relationship between σci and uniaxial tensile strength (σt) based on the Griffith stress ...

Pore Distribution Characteristics of the Igneous Reservoirs in the Eastern Sag of the Liaohe Depression

open access: yesOpen Geosciences, 2017
In the Es3 formation (third section of the Shahejie) of the Eastern sag section of the Liaohe Depression, basalt and trachyte are predominant in the igneous rock. The reservoir consists of complex reservoir space types.

Igneous rocks of Teviot and Liddesdale [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the Edinburgh Geological Society, 1920
Introduction. The district dealt with in the following pages forms a belt of country about fifteen miles in width. It extends from Roxburgh and Melrose in a south-easterly direction as far as Langholm and Canonbie Moor, and is included in Sheets 25, 17 and 11 of the Geological Survey's one-inch to a mile map of Scotland.

A comparison of elk‐vehicle collision patterns with demographic and abundance data in the Central Canadian Rocky Mountains

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 4, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
We evaluated the patterns of elk‐vehicle collisions in the Central Canadian Rocky Mountains to reveal population‐level impacts and inform mitigation solutions. We found that more females and adults are involved in collisions, but when compared to the sex and age of the elk population, males and subadults are more prone to collisions in the fall.
