Ignition delay of microplasmas at atmospheric pressure
2009 IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science - Abstracts, 2009Micarowave field breakdown conditions in gases are important whenever using plasma in pulsed mode. The plasma properties during the steady state regime are different from those during the ignition time.

Ignition Delay Evaluation of Ethanol Blends in Compression Ignition Engines
SAE Technical Paper Series<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Currently, several studies are being carried out to replace diesel oil with alternative fuels in compression ignition engines. Ethanol is a strong candidate, thanks to its extensive feedstock, low emissions and low cost.

Ignition Delay in the Dual Fuel Engine
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1987<div class="htmlview paragraph">TESTS HAVE been conducted on a special compression ignition research engine to investigate the effects of gaseous fuels on the ignition delay in dual fuel engines. Diesel oil, n-heptane, or cetane were used as pilot fuels, and hydrogen carbon monoxide, or methane were inducted in the intake manifold.

Ignition Delay for Atmospheric Pressure Microplasmas
Contributions to Plasma Physics, 2009AbstractThe ignition process in microplasmas is characterized by time resolved microwave reflection coefficient measurements, using a specially equipped vector network analyzer. We measured the time between the switching on of the microwave power and the onset of the plasma state in air at atmospheric pressures. The delay time decreases from approx.

Ignition delay of composite solid propellants
Combustion and Flame, 1977Abstract Ignition delay of phenol-formaldehyde composite propellants was measured by a hot plate technique. The activation energy for the preignition reactions has been computed using the Arrhenius type expression for ignition delay.

An approach of droplet ignition delay time
Heat Transfer—Asian Research, 2008AbstractWhen a droplet is suddenly injected into a high‐temperature environment, the droplet self‐ignition phenomenon occurs. A simple model, based on the temperature history of target gas mixture of which the equivalent ratio is equal to 1, was proposed to predict the droplet ignition delay time in this paper. This approach clearly divides the droplet

The Effects of Physical Factors on Ignition Delay
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1968<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">The effects of physical factors on ignition delay have been studied on a motored research engine using a single injection technique. The fuels used included a high cetane number reference fuel, gas oil and M. T.

Shock Tube Ignition Delay Data Affected by Localized Ignition Phenomena
Combustion Science and Technology, 2016ABSTRACTShock tubes have conventionally been used for measuring high-temperature ignition delay times of approximately O(1 ms). In the last decade or so, the operating regime of shock tubes has been extended to lower temperatures by accessing longer observation times. Such measurements may potentially be affected by some non-ideal phenomena.

The ignition delay concept for recessed flameholders
Combustion and Flame, 1960Abstract Earlier work of Huellmantel, Ziemer and Cambel is considered in relation to tests on wake characteristics of recessed flameholders. Sodium injection was used, with propane-air. Recirculation lengths were found to be essentially constant with variations in velocity and equivalence ratio.
