On the minimum ignition energy (MIE) for propane/air
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2010A copy of the standard ASTM spark generator for determination of MIEs of gases and vapours was built and measurements to determine MIE of propane/air at normal atmospheric conditions were performed. However, the ASTM standard does not prescribe any statistical procedure for deriving MIE values from primary test data.

Calculation of minimum ignition energy of premixed gases
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2003The minimum ignition energy of premixed gases has been calculated by using two theoretical expressions and compared with the experimental data. One expression considers the amount of energy that the minimal flame should have, and the other the heat loss from the surface of the minimal flamelet.

Laser ignition of explosives: Effects of gas pressure on the threshold ignition energy
Journal of Energetic Materials, 1990Abstract This paper describes a method for measuring the effect of initial gas pressure and the type of gas on the threshold ignition energy of several high explosives. The method is based on a 300 W CW CO2-laser. An extensive study of these parameters for PETN and RDX is also presented.
