Ignition Characteristics of Micro‐Energy Semiconductor Bridges with Different Ignition Compositions

Propellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, 2015
AbstractExperimental research was carried out under the stimulation of 10 μF tantalum capacitor discharge, to obtain the ignition characteristics of micro‐energy semiconductor bridges (SCB) with different ignition compositions. Meanwhile, the critical ignition voltages of different pyrotechnics were tested by the Neyer‐D optimal sensitivity test method.

Laser ignition of explosives: Effects of gas pressure on the threshold ignition energy

Journal of Energetic Materials, 1990
Abstract This paper describes a method for measuring the effect of initial gas pressure and the type of gas on the threshold ignition energy of several high explosives. The method is based on a 300 W CW CO2-laser. An extensive study of these parameters for PETN and RDX is also presented.

Laser Ignition of an Experimental Cryogenic Reaction and Control Thruster: Ignition Energies

Journal of Propulsion and Power, 2014
An extensive experimental investigation has been conducted to assess the feasibility of implementing laser ignition in a cryogenic reaction and control system and orbital and maneuvering system thrusters. A 400 N experimental thruster, with a single-coaxial injector element, was designed for a steady-state pressure of 2 bar and was tested using two ...

Minimum ignition energy of nylon fibres

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 2008
Abstract The aim of this paper is to provide new experimental data on the minimum ignition energy (MIE) of clouds of fibres dispersed in the air. Nylon fibres from an Italian flock manufacturer (diameter between 10 and 27.4 μm, length between 600 and 1800 μm) were collected and tested in a modified Hartmann tube in order to measure the MIE.

Energy Conservation in Sintering Ignition Process Based on Comprehensive Ignition Intensity

2018
Ignition is the start point of the sintering circuit, which plays an important role during the whole sintering process. The gas consumption accounts for 80% energy cost in the sintering ignition process. Therefore, gas flow reduction is of great significance to energy conservation in the sintering ignition process.

Laser Fusion Energy Poised to Ignite

Science, 2010
Once lasers have shown that they can spark fusion, what next? Projects in Japan, Europe, and the United States are working to build lasers with the necessary power and repetition rate to make energy from laser fusion a reality.

The Formation of Sparks of Minimum Ignition Energy

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1978
A study has been made of incendiary discharges with minimum energy and between metal electrodes. The circuit used has a characteristic relaxation time smaller than the time required to distinquish several successive stages in spark formation. Examples are provided to show that the character and duration of each stage as well as the possibility to ...

Fast ignition for inertial fusion energy

18th IEEE/NPSS Symposium on Fusion Engineering. Symposium Proceedings (Cat. No.99CH37050), 2003
Fast ignition inertial fusion energy is a relatively new concept in which targets are separately compressed and ignited. Compared to central hot spot ignition, this approach results in substantially higher target gains, and relaxed driver and target specifications. If the concept proves viable, these changes allow construction of a much more attractive
