Critical Ignition Temperature

Thermochimica Acta, 2002
Abstract Critical ignition temperature ( T I ) is the minimum temperature for which an explosive, propellant, or pyrotechnic charge of specified size, shape, and boundary constraint must be heated in order to induce thermal runaway. Methods of thermal analysis such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) are uniquely suited for evaluating the ...

Experimental study on piloted ignition temperature and auto ignition temperature of heavy oils at high pressure

Energy, 2021
Abstract Explosion related safety problems of heavy oil and liquid oil are of great concern in energy related industries. For the petroleum industry, air injection assisted steam recycling (huff and puff) and in-situ combustion are important techniques for the exploitation and development of heavy oils, but a number of explosion accidents that ...

The auto-ignition temperature of methane

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 1984
Abstract An improved method for measuring auto-ignition temperatures of gaseous fuels has been developed. Results are reported for methane—air mixtures and compared with previous work. It appears that the normally accepted minimum auto-ignition temperature for methane of 537 (or 540)°C was theoretically rather than experimentally derived.

Temperature-Regulated Ignition Source

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1960
The temperature controller described here is capable of heating a fine wire (of the order of a few mils in diam) to some temperature between 700°C and the melting temperature, and holding the temperature constant to within a few degrees. The detector is a photomultiplier that monitors radiation from the center of the wire; changes in ...

Ignition condition and gain scaling of low temperature ignition targets

Nuclear Fusion, 1998
The ignition and burn dynamics of low temperature ignition (LTI) targets are investigated by means of one dimensional (1-D) coupled transport-hydrodynamics simulations, in which the stagnation dynamics is appropriately taken into account. In this scheme, ignition takes place in the central region of the fuel and then the burn wave propagates outward ...
