AbstractThe anatomy of the hyo‐lingual apparatus in the iguanid lizard Oplurus cuvieri has been studied by light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Four areas were observed on the dorsal lingual epithelium of the lizard. Tongue tips are covered with a smooth epithelium.

Minute Y chromosome in the lizard genus Uta (family Iguanidae)

Evidence is presented for an XX/XY sex-determining mechanism in five species of the genus Uta. All species examined have a somatic diploid complement of 12 macrochromosomes and 22 microchromosomes. The Y chromosome is morphologically distinguishable as the smallest microchromosome in the males.

A Comparative Study of Display Behavior in Phrynosoma (Iguanidae)

The behavior of six of the seven species of Phrynosoma found in the United States was studied. Most of the behavior patterns typical of iguanids are lacking in this genus. Analysis of display-action-pattern graphs is presented. These show a gradual decrease in display complexity from primitive to more recent forms.

The Hispaniolan Anolis (Reptilia, Lacertilia, Iguanidae) of the hendersoni Complex

Geographic variation in three species of the hendersoni complex anoles (A. hendersoni, A. bahorucoensis, A. dolichocephalus) indicates that in each case there are northern and southern slope subspecies, separated from each other by the interior high uplands of the montane massifs of the Hispaniolan Tiburon Peninsula and the Peninsula de Barahona.
