FAMILY IGUANIDAE Bell 1825, 206 (2 genera, 7 species, 3 endemic species). Oppel 1811, 16 is usually credited with authorship of this family name, but Nicholson et al. (2012) argued that Oppel’s usage of “Iguanoides” did not qualify as required by the CODE and those authors cited Gray (1827, 56) as the author.

Ultrastructural Analysis of Spermiogenesis in Iguana iguana (Reptilia: Sauria: Iguanidae)
European Journal of Morphology, 2002Spermiogenesis in the lizard, Iguana iguana, was studied by transmission and scanning electron microscopy. During this process, structures such as the acrosomal complex in the spermatid head and the axonemal complex in the mid and principal pieces of the flagellum are formed. The nuclear content is initially compacted into thick, longitudinal chromatin

Display Analysis of Anolis nebulosus (Sauria, Iguanidae)
Copeia, 1971A statistical analysis of variation in the assertion display of Anolis nebulosus was computed from 599 filmed displays of 59 males. A populationtypical assertion display was shared by all examined lizards. Each lizard performed his display-action-pattern with remarkable consistency.

Genetic Relationships in the Genus Uma (Iguanidae)
Copeia, 1977Electrophoretic analysis of the five species in the genus Uma reveals three distinct groups. U. exsul and U. paraphygas, the two Mexican species, are genetically divergent from one another and from the three Californian species, U. notata, U. inornata and U. scoparia, which cluster closely. The genetic distance between U. exsul and U. paraphygas (D = 0.

The Ethoecology of Anolis nebulosus (Sauria, Iguanidae)
Journal of Herpetology, 1970A population of Anolis nebulosus located near Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico was studied in the field and laboratory from June, 1965 to September, 1968. The population showed a female : male sex ratio of 50:49. The males in the spring were larger than the females, averaging 41.4 and 35.8 mm, respectively; however, no difference in the length-weight ...
