Tongue structure and function in Oplurus cuvieri (reptilia: Iguanidae)
The Anatomical Record, 1994AbstractThe anatomy of the hyo‐lingual apparatus in the iguanid lizard Oplurus cuvieri has been studied by light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Four areas were observed on the dorsal lingual epithelium of the lizard. Tongue tips are covered with a smooth epithelium.

Complex Color Changes in Anolis (Reptilia, Lacertilia, Iguanidae)
Journal of Herpetology, 1978A complex pattern of color changes is described for Anolis coelestinus involving three basic background colors-gray, green, and brown-and three types of patterns- solid, striped, and mottled. This complex set of changes within one individual cannot be explained given the models and mechanisms for color change described for Anolis carolinensis.

Journal of Experimental Zoology, 1971AbstractThe rate and extent of tail replacement was followed during two consecutive post‐amputation periods in adult and juvenile male Anolis carolinensis, maintained under three different experimental regimes. Great variation, as indicated by the coefficient of variability, was observed in all experimental groups.
