LIPOMATOSIS OF THE ILEOCECAL VALVE
American Journal of Roentgenology, 1973Two patients with lipomatous infiltration of the ileocecal valve are reported.Surgery was undertaken in Case I when tumor was suspected because the valve was nodular in shape in certain projections of the barium enema examination. The fact that no tumor was found indicates that the nodularity of the valve is not a reliable sign of carcinoma.

Hypertrophy of Ileocecal Valve
A.M.A. Archives of Surgery, 1959Hypertrophy of the ileocecal valve, lipomatosis of the ileocecal region, and ileocecal syndrome are synonymous terms. On reviewing the literature, one is impressed with the comparative infrequency of clinical lipomatosis of the ileocecal valve, although an appreciable number of cases have been noted post mortem.1,2 Comfort1reported an incidence of ...

Lipomatosis of the ileocecal valve
Diseases of the Colon & Rectum, 1963Review of medical literature proves that lipomas of the gastro-intestinal tract occur infrequently, but should not be considered rare. Actual preoperative identification of lipoma of the ileocecal valve occurs infrequently. It may appear to be an encapsulated or pedunculated mass or, much more rarely, it may be properly described as lipomatosis of the ...

Ileocecal Valve: Misconceptions
Archives of Surgery, 1982To the Editor .—The article "Ileocecal Valve Replacement: Its Effect on Transit Time, Survival, and Weight Change After Massive Intestinal Resection" by Careskey et al (Archives1981;116:618-622) emphasized the importance of this structure. This is often forgotten during colonic resection procedures, even when retention of the ileocecal junction is ...

Minimally invasive ileocecal valve resection in ileocecal Crohn's disease.
Annali italiani di chirurgia, 2022Considering ileocolic resection as a surgical standard for the treatment of ileocecal valve Crohn's disease, we propose a limited resection of the terminal ileum and ileocecal valve with ileocecal anastomosis.Three patiens between 20 and 37 years of age, diagnosed with Crohn's disease unresponsive to medical therapy, who have stenoses or fissures ...

Submucous lipoma of the ileocecal valve
The American Journal of Digestive Diseases, 1973Lipoma of the ileocecal valve is a rare condition which must be distinguished from other neoplasms. It should be considered in the differential diagnosis of any acute or chronic abdominal pain of doubtful origin. In symptomatic cases when the diagnosis cannot be made with certainty, excision of the tumor is indicated.

X-Ray Studies of the Ileocecal Valve in Ileocecal Tuberculosis
Radiology, 1954During the past twenty-five years, the double-contrast examination has been a routine procedure in the diagnosis of ileocecal tuberculosis at Eagleville Sanatorium (4, 5). The progress meal and, rarely, enteroclysis (6, 7) are used as supplementary examinations if the double contrast studies fail to disclose intestinal lesions suggested by the clinical
