Intraoperative hepatic ultrasonography in patients with gastrointestinal and pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms without preoperative evidence of liver metastases

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, EarlyView.
Abstract In patients with gastroenteric and pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs), the risk of liver metastases is high, but the accuracy of standard imaging for detecting small hepatic nodules is limited. This raises concerns about the adequacy of staging in cM0 patients.

Controversies in NEN: An ENETS position statement on the treatment of patients with Grade 3 well‐differentiated neuroendocrine tumours of the gastro‐enteropancreatic tract

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, EarlyView.
Abstract Grade 3 neuroendocrine tumours (NET G3) represent approximately 20% of high‐grade neuroendocrine neoplasms, and the recent identification of this entity has given rise to many unanswered questions relating to clinical management. The prognosis for these patients is worse than for those with Grade 1–2 well‐differentiated NET, but better than ...

High cholesterol absorption efficiency interferes with bile acid metabolism and cholesterol elimination from the body

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Elevated low‐density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol causes atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases. Variables of whole‐body cholesterol metabolism, for example, high cholesterol absorption efficiency, might also be atherogenic, whereas the role of bile acids is controversial.

Effects of an Isoquinoline Alkaloids Blend on the Expression of Genes Relevant for Antioxidant Capacity, Barrier Integrity and Inflammation Along the Broiler Gut

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Intensive broiler production may lead to perturbations of gut function and health. The maintenance of intestinal homeostasis in broilers through the use of dietary phytogenic components such as isoquinoline alkaloids (IQs) is an emerging topic of scientific investigations.

Pharmacokinetics of Ampicillin Trihydrate in Plasma, Interstitial, and Peritoneal Fluid Following Intraperitoneal or Intramuscular Administration in Steers at the Beginning of a Standing Flank Laparotomy

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Prophylactic and perioperative use of antibiotics is common prior to abdominal surgery in cattle for minimizing the risk of postoperative infections. Yet, there is little information on drug concentrations at sites of potential infections following surgical procedures. The objective of this study was to compare the concentrations in the plasma,
