Pancytopenia With Hypocellular Bone Marrow Revealing Extrahepatic Portal Venous Obstruction and Cavernous Transformation in a Child: A Case Report of a Diagnostic Challenge

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Extrahepatic portal venous obstruction (EHPVO) is a leading cause of prehepatic portal hypertension in children, particularly in developing countries. Association of the TyG Index, Cardiometabolic Index, and Epicardial Adipose Tissue With Coronary Artery Disease

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study demonstrates that the TyG index, CMI, and EATi are independently associated with CAD. CMI partially mediates the relationship between TyG and CAD, whereas EATi contributes through an independent pathway. These findings suggest that integrating metabolic and adiposity‐related markers may improve cardiovascular risk assessment.

Co‐Contraction Training Induces Muscle Hypertrophy but Not Strength Gains in Older Adults: A Controlled Intervention Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Aging is associated with neuromuscular decline, impairing function and independence. Resistance training mitigates these effects; however, in some contexts, barriers such as access to facilities, transportation, and adherence may limit participation, particularly among socioeconomically disadvantaged and community‐dwelling older ...

Dietary Index for Gut Microbiota and the Odds of Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Fatty Liver Disease in Overweight and Obese Children and Adolescents: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Metabolic dysfunction‐associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is increasingly prevalent among children and adolescents with overweight or obesity, posing a growing public health challenge. Emerging evidence highlights the gut microbiota as a critical mediator in MAFLD pathogenesis, yet few studies have explored dietary ...
