Strategic Design of Soft Actuators in Translational Medical Robotics for Human‐Centered Healthcare

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Soft robotics enables biocompatible, compliant medical devices, but clinical translation requires design‐driven engineering beyond materials. This perspective reviews implantable, surgical, and wearable systems by actuation mechanism, highlighting how optimized architectures and integration improve mechanical interfacing, adaptability, and durability ...

May-Thurner Syndrome: A Case Report

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Medicine, 2019
May-Thurner Syndrome (MTS) or iliac vein compression syndrome is caused by compression of the left common iliac vein by the right common iliac artery. This obstruction may cause leg swelling, varicosities, deep venous thrombosis, chronic venous stasis ...

Right internal iliac vein joining the left common iliac vein: case report demonstrated by CT angiography

open access: yes, 2003
An unusual variation of the iliac veins was detected by computed tomography (CT) angiography in a 35-year-old man. In coronal CT reconstructions, it was shown that the right internal iliac vein of this patient crossed to the left side and drained to the ...

Piezo2 Mediates a Vicious Cycle of “Mechanical Homeostasis Imbalance—Inflammation” in Sensory Nerves and the Cartilage Endplate

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In a lumbar spine instability model, dorsal root ganglion cells mediate the perception of relevant mechanical stresses through Piezo2 and subsequently release CGRP. CGRP activates the NF‐κB signaling pathway in cartilage endplate cells through the receptor RAMP1.

Renal transplantation in bilateral iliac vein thrombosis: A difficult case scenario

open access: yesIndian Journal of Transplantation, 2019
A case of end-stage renal disease with bilateral iliac vein thrombosis underwent renal transplantation at our institute. Right external iliac vein (EIV) is the common site for anastomosing renal vein during renal transplantation.

Embolization for massive bleeding due to spontaneous left external iliac vein rupture: report of a successful case

open access: yesCVIR Endovascular, 2021
Background Spontaneous rupture of the iliac vein has rarely been reported. Its associated hypovolemic shock-related symptoms and signs, including syncope and hypotension, have been observed in most of these cases.

Prmt6 Deficiency or Inhibition Restores Microglial Homeostasis and Promotes Scar‐Limited Repair in Adult Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
After spinal cord injury, adult microglia remain persistently activated with chronic PRMT6 (protein arginine methyltransferase 6) upregulation. Prmt6 deficiency or inhibition reestablishes microglial homeostasis and promotes a scar‐limited repairment, enhancing axonal regrowth.

Surgical anteriorization of the left common iliac vein results in improved venous outflow and quality of life for May-Thurner syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques
May-Thurner syndrome or left iliac vein compression occurs when the left common iliac vein is compressed by the right common iliac artery, leading to venous outflow obstruction. This obstruction can cause venous hypertension, resulting in lower extremity

Case report: Non-thrombotic iliac vein lesion: an unusual cause of unilateral leg swelling in a patient with endometrial carcinoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2023
81-year-old female presented with subacute right lower extremity edema due to iliac vein compression by a markedly enlarged external iliac lymph node later identified as newly relapsed metastatic endometrial carcinoma.

Renal transplantation with iliac vein transposition

open access: yes, 2004
We evaluated a technique for implantation of right kidneys with short renal veins without the need for venous reconstruction. The technique of iliac vein transposition was performed in six recipients who received right kidneys with short renal veins. Two
