Herein we describe a previously seldom recognized variety of snapping hip, which is caused by snapping of the iliopsoas tendon over the iliopectineal eminence when the femur is moved from the flexed position at the hip and extended through 45 degrees of flexion.

AbstractIliopsoas abscess (IPA) is rare in children, particularly in neonates. A male neonate was born at 38 weeks of gestation with a weight of 2915 g. On day 22 after birth, his family noticed that his right thigh was swollen. Abdominal computed tomography showed a mass extending to the right iliopsoas from the right thigh with thick septa.

Iliopsoas Musculotendinous Unit
Seminars in Musculoskeletal Radiology, 2008Hip pain is a common condition with many etiologies, and the workup often includes imaging. The iliopsoas musculotendinous unit is becoming more frequently recognized as the culprit for hip pain, partially due to the increase in athletic activity in the general population as well as to the increased demand in professional sports.

Iliopsoas abscess in the neonate
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 2004Iliopsoas abscess (IPA) is rare, especially in the neonatal period. The major presenting symptoms of IPA are leg or groin swelling, limitation of leg motion, and pain. The etiologies of IPA in many cases remain unknown, and the etiologic agent in many cases is Staphylococcus aureus.

Iliopsoas Tendonitis and Impingement After Total Hip Arthroplasty.
Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic SurgeonsIliopsoas impingement and tendinitis are a relatively uncommon but debilitating complication after total hip arthroplasty. Treatment for symptomatic iliopsoas pathology includes conservative management (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, ultrasound-guided
