The differential diagnosis of abdominal pain includes a number of entities, one of which is acute osteomyelitis of the ilium. Von Bergmann, 1 in 1906, reported 71 instances of osteomyelitis of the pelvis, thus reflecting the relative incidence of this entity. High mortality was noted.

Intraosseous Lipoma of the Ilium
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1988Intraosseous lipoma is the rarest of the benign primary tumors of bone. It occurs most often in the metaphysis of long bones and is usually identified as an incidental roentgenographic finding. A 53-year-old man demonstrated a mass in his buttock and a lytic lesion of his ilium.
