Effect of lighting illuminance and colour temperature on mental workload in an office setting

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
The mental workload of subjects was tested under different lighting conditions, with colour temperatures ranging from 3000 to 6500 K and illuminance ranging from 300 to 1000 lx. We used both psychological and physiological responses for evaluation.

Using all-sky differential photometry to investigate how nocturnal clouds darken the night sky in rural areas

open access: yes, 2019
Artificial light at night has affected most of the natural nocturnal landscapes worldwide and the subsequent light pollution has diverse effects on flora, fauna and human well-being. To evaluate the environmental impacts of light pollution, it is crucial

Climate Responsive Design Simulation and Modelling for Industrial Heritage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The control of solar radiation is a basic dimension of modern design in all different types of constructions. Many architects have recently observed that different phases of sustainable design require a set of calculations and simulations that are ...

Effect of Interior Chromaticness on Space Brightness

open access: yesi-Perception, 2011
To design a lighting environment, horizontal illuminance is generally used as the brightness of a room. But it is reported that a subjective brightness does not always match the horizontal illuminance.

Ambient light level varies with different locations and environmental conditions: Potential to impact myopia.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
PurposeConsidering that time spent outdoors is protective for myopia, we investigated how ambient light levels reaching the eye varies across 9 outdoor and 4 indoor locations in 5 different environmental conditions.MethodsIlluminance (lux) was recorded ...

Meter‐Scale Ultra‐Large‐Area Flexible Electroluminescent Devices Enabled by Aerosol Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a simple aerosol spraying method using modified luminescent ink to fabricate meter‐scale flexible alternating current electroluminescent (ACEL) devices. Enhanced particle dispersibility and film uniformity yield impressive brightness up to 500 cd m−2, positioning these devices as effective luminous navigation signs for industrial ...

Stability of Perovskite Indoor Photovoltaics: A Focused Review and a Call for Standardized Stability Reporting

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
While perovskite solar cells have been widely studied, including their stability, perovskite indoor photovoltaics (IPVs) have only recently emerged. Nevertheless, more studies are appearing in the literature. The systematic stability study of IPVs is crucial, particularly given the inconsistencies in reported methodologies and results, which call for ...

Analysis of Artificial Lighting Design Fixture on the Indoor Night Time Illuminance

open access: yesCovenant Journal of Engineering Technology, 2022
Human beings depend on a lighting system in their indoor environment for visual tasks and to function appropriately. With daylight absent during the night, artificial lighting becomes the only lighting source for illuminance.
