Is the Moon Illusion an Illusion?
2012The Moon Illusion refers to the fact that the moon (or sun) appears larger near the horizon than higher in the sky. It is called an illusion because the angular size of the celestial bodies does not change in different parts of the sky (apart from a slight shrinkage and shape distortion near the horizon owing to refraction).
