Natural South African iron‐rich sand as a functional catalyst in hybrid photocatalytic wet peroxide oxidation technology for the degradation of methyl orange dye pollutant

This research explored South African iron‐rich sand (SAIRS) as a natural catalyst for light‐mediated wet peroxide oxidation of methyl orange dye in wastewater and at an optimized of conditions of 3500 mg/L catalyst dose, 6 mM H2O2, and pH 2.5, SAIRS achieved 94% methyl orange degradation within 90 min under visible light.

Synthesis of iron nanocomposite reinforced by TiC particles via mechanical activation from ilmenite concentrate and carbon black

In this research, synthesis of Fe-TiC nanocomposites from activated ilmenite concentrate and carbon black was investigated. Ilmenite and carbon black as raw materials were milled in a planetary ball mill and sampled after different milling times.

The Holocene Tiwai Spit on Foveaux Strait is a 12 km by 2 km gravel‐dominated strand plain, ∼10 m above present sea level. Gravel clasts are dominated by well‐rounded quartz cobbles, pebbles and granules derived from Otago Schist 200 km to the north in evolving river drainage systems during late Cenozoic.
