Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Neural Face Editing with Intrinsic Image Disentangling

open access: yes, 2017
Traditional face editing methods often require a number of sophisticated and task specific algorithms to be applied one after the other --- a process that is tedious, fragile, and computationally intensive.

Denoising Autoencoder and Contrast Enhancement for RGB and GS Images with Gaussian Noise

open access: yesMathematics
Robust image processing systems require input images that closely resemble real-world scenes. However, external factors, such as adverse environmental conditions or errors in data transmission, can alter the captured image, leading to information loss ...

A review of three-dimensional vision techniques in food and agriculture applications

open access: yesSmart Agricultural Technology, 2023
In recent years, three-dimensional (3D) machine vision techniques have been widely employed in agriculture and food systems, leveraging advanced deep learning technologies. However, with the rapid development of three-dimensional (3D) imaging techniques,

Visible Light Image-Based Method for Sugar Content Classification of Citrus

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2016
Visible light imaging of citrus fruit from Mie Prefecture of Japan was performed to determine whether an algorithm could be developed to predict the sugar content. This nondestructive classification showed that the accurate segmentation of different images can be realized by a correlation analysis based on the threshold value of the coefficient of ...

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Image based tracking approaches to AR/C at the Johnson Space Center [PDF]

open access: yes
Automated Rendezvous and Capture (AR&C) requires the determination of the six degrees of freedom relating two free bodies. Sensor systems that can provide such information have varying sizes, weights, power requirements, complexities and accuracies.
