Lightness enhancement for video images based on nonlinear filter [PDF]
It is difficult to enhance low-light video images, because of the irregularity of lightness for each frame and due to the length of execution time required for enhancement. In this research, the videos were optimised using a method based on the development of the technique of the histogram equalisation by using the sigmoid function as a non-linear ...

Publisher Summary This chapter shows how high-dynamic-range (HDR) images can be used as sources of illumination for both computer-generated and real objects and scenes through image-based lighting (IBL). Acquiring real-world lighting for IBL involves taking omnidirectional HDR images through one of several techniques, thereby yielding a data set of ...

ACM SIGGRAPH 2007 posters, 2007
When compositing computer generated imagery into photographed scenes, image based lighting (IBL) [Debevec 1998] is used so that synthetic and real objects are consistently illuminated. Traditional IBL takes light captured from a single point in space however light varies spatially in many scenes. Unger et al. [2003] captured a light field for lighting,

Image-based Light Modification
2020Designers translate their ideas into images via visualization tools. Most of these tools provide some level of editing capabilities. Although these tools have very powerful and comprehensive capability in editing, they require users to have a strategy before using and decide the combination of commands he/she needs to apply.

Novel Scheme for Image-based Traffic-light Detection [PDF]
A novel scheme for efficient image-based traffic-light detection is proposed. Firstly, Gaussian filtering is used to preprocess images to reduce noises. Secondly, the classic Harris algorithm is employed to detect, locate and connect corner points to acquire a number of frame areas. Then, invalid frame areas are removed based on thresholding techniques.

High dynamic range imaging & image-based lighting
ACM SIGGRAPH 2008 classes, 2008This class outlines recent advances in high dynamic range imaging (HDRI) - from capture to image-based lighting to display. In a hands-on approach, we show how HDR images and video can be captured, the file formats available to store them, and the algorithms required to prepare them for display on low dynamic range displays. The trade-offs at each step

Adaptive Polyhedral Subdivision for Image-based Lighting
2010Augmented Reality (AR) is a technique that synthesizes and displays virtual objects such as CG in images of real environments. It is important to harmonize real environment with CG and to render the harmonized scene. In this research, we propose a method for rendering virtual objects by using Image-based Lighting (IBL) that uses polyhedral subdivision ...

Multiple exposure images based traffic light recognition
2014 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium Proceedings, 2014This paper proposes a multiple exposure images based traffic light recognition method. For traffic light recognition, color segmentation is widely used to detect traffic light signals; however, the color in an image is easily affected by various illuminations and leads to incorrect recognition results.

A Synthesis-and-Analysis Approach to Image Based Lighting
2012Given a set of sample images of a scene with variable illumination and the corresponding parameters of the light sources, namely position and/or intensity, we propose an interpolation based approach to model the variation of illumination in images.
