Image-based design model

Design Studies, 1992
Images of previous designs are considered to be important components of a designer's experience. A design image is an ambiguous and relatively generalized picture. In this paper, it is represented, as a variable structure with a group of constraints. A method to acquire design images, called ‘case extending’, is discussed.

Image-based tree modeling

ACM SIGGRAPH 2007 papers, 2007
In this paper, we propose an approach for generating 3D models of natural-looking trees from images that has the additional benefit of requiring little user intervention. While our approach is primarily image-based, we do not model each leaf directly from images due to the large leaf count, small image footprint, and widespread occlusions.

In situ image-based modeling

2009 8th IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality, 2009
We present an interactive image-based modelling method for generating 3D models within an augmented reality system. Applying real time camera tracking, and high-level automated image analysis, enables more powerful modelling interactions than have previously been possible.

Imaging-Based Prediction Models

2020
The modern personalized medicine approaches in oncology deal with a huge and barely manageable number of patient-specific variables, from genetic data to simple blood tests, trying to ensure a fully individualized and tailored therapy.

Image-based plant modeling

ACM Transactions on Graphics, 2006
In this paper, we propose a semi-automatic technique for modeling plants directly from images. Our image-based approach has the distinct advantage that the resulting model inherits the realistic shape and complexity of a real plant. We designed our modeling system to be interactive, automating the process of shape recovery while relying on the user to ...

Image-Based Modeling of Unwrappable Façades

IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2013
In this paper, we propose an unwrappable representation for image-based façade modeling from multiple registered images. An unwrappable façade is represented by the mutually orthogonal baseline and profile. We first reconstruct semidense 3D points from images, then the baseline and profile are extracted from the point cloud to construct the base shape ...

Image based modeling of tumor growth

Australasian Physical & Engineering Sciences in Medicine, 2016
Tumors are a main cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Despite the efforts of the clinical and research communities, little has been achieved in the past decades in terms of improving the treatment of aggressive tumors. Understanding the underlying mechanism of tumor growth and evaluating the effects of different therapies are valuable steps in ...

Image-Based Predictive Modeling of Heart Mechanics.

Annual Review of Biomedical Engineering, 2015
Personalized biophysical modeling of the heart is a useful approach for noninvasively analyzing and predicting in vivo cardiac mechanics. Three main developments support this style of analysis: state-of-the-art cardiac imaging technologies, modern computational infrastructure, and advanced mathematical modeling techniques.

Towards image-based beard modeling

ACM SIGGRAPH ASIA 2009 Posters, 2009
Modeling of plausible hair is essential for creating believable virtual characters. However, due to the inherent complexity of the hair geometry only very costly approaches, that either rely on manual modeling or require very specialized acquisition hardware, have been previously presented in literature [Paris et al. 2008].

Image-based lightweight tree modeling

Proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Virtual Reality Continuum and its Applications in Industry, 2009
This paper presents a novel lightweight tree modeling approach for constructing large scale online virtual forestry on Web. It firstly recovers 3D skeleton of the visible trunk from two source images of a tree, then extracts the rules and parameters of tree L-system from the recovered skeleton, and parses the parametric L-system into very lightweight ...
