Color Image Analysis With An Intrinsic Reflection Model

[1988 Proceedings] Second International Conference on Computer Vision, 2005
In this paper, we present an approach to color image understanding that can be used to segment and analyze surfaces with color variations due to highlights and shading. We begin with a theory -the Dichromatic Reflection Model - that relates the reflected light from dielectric materials, such as plastic, to fundamental physical reflection processes, and

Hypercomplex polar Fourier analysis for color image

2011 18th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2011
Fourier transform is a significant tool in image processing and pattern recognition. By introducing hypercomplex number, hypercomplex Fourier transform [1] treats signal as vector field and generalizes conventional Fourier transform. Inspired from that, hypercomplex polar Fourier analysis is proposed in this paper.

Segmentation and analysis of leg ulcers color images

Proceedings International Workshop on Medical Imaging and Augmented Reality, 2002
This paper presents a methodology for the segmentation and analysis of the tissues in color images of leg ulcers. The segmentation is obtained through an automatic analysis made in the RGB and SI channels by changing from the RGB color space to the HSI color space.

Impulsive noise suppression and analysis in color imaging

SPIE Proceedings, 2004
We present the analysis and simulation results for some modifications of the vectorial color imaging procedures those use at the second stage of magnitude processing the different order statistics filters. The technique of non-parametric filtering is presented and investigated in this paper too.

Separability Analysis of Color Classes on Dermoscopic Images

2012
Dermoscopy is a non-invasive diagnostic technique for the in vivo observation of pigmented skin lesions used in dermatology. There is currently a great interest in the prospects of automatic image analysis methods for dermoscopy, both to provide quantitative information about a lesion, which can be of relevance for the clinician, and as a stand alone ...

Computer Synthesis of Spectroradiometric Images for Color Imaging Systems Analysis

Color and Imaging Conference, 1998
A technique to perform full spectral based color calculations through an extension of OpenGL has been created. This method of color computations is more accurate than the standard RGB model that most computer graphics algorithms utilize. By maintaining full wavelength information in color calculations, it is also possible to interactively simulate and ...

Color image segmentation by analysis of subset connectedness and color homogeneity properties

Computer Vision and Image Understanding, 2006
In this paper, we present a new color image segmentation scheme based on unsupervised pixel classification that works even when there is not a one-to-one correspondence between the clusters of color points in the color space and the regions in the image.

Analysis of skin erythema using true-color images

IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 1997
This article presents a new method for analyzing the spreading of skin erythemas. These occur as a result of the cutaneous vascular axon reflex which can be evoked by a noxious stimulation of the skin. Series of true-color images of the observed skin patch were recorded using a video camera. The images were digitized and stored on computer disk.

Color Medical Image Analysis

2013
Since the early 20th century, medical imaging has been dominated by monochrome imaging modalities such as x-ray, computed tomography, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging. As a result, color information has been overlooked in medical image analysis applications. Recently, various medical imaging modalities that involve color information have been

Texture Analysis for Enhanced Color Image Quantization

Graphical Models and Image Processing, 1997
A traditional problem with color image quantization techniques is their inability to handle smooth variations in intensity and chromaticity, leading to contours in the quantized image. To address this problem, this paper describes new techniques for augmenting the performance of a seminal color image quantization algorithm, the median-cut quantizer ...
