Data Compression Conference, 1992., 2003
The authors describe a method for lossless compression of images that contain predominantly typed or typeset text-they call these textual images. An increasingly popular application is document archiving, where documents are scanned by a computer and stored electronically for later retrieval.

In this paper a network algorithm to compress and to reconstruct DICOM-images is presented. The algorithm consists of three parts: the bit-levels of the original image is classified on the basis of a temporary segmentation and analysis of the image structure and afterwards divided into two parts.

Compressive sensing for space image compressing
Proceedings of the 2016 International Conference on Intelligent Information Processing, 2016Compressive sensing is a new technique by which sparse signals are sampled and recovered from a few measurements. To address the disadvantages of traditional space image compressing methods, a complete new compressing scheme under the compressive sensing framework was developed in this paper.

Image compression with inpainting
2012 IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology (ISSPIT), 2012In common wireless scenario, the data needs to be efficiently compressed by utilizing the channel bandwidth and thus to increase the data bit rate. The image is transmitted over the channel block by block. We can enhance the compression performance by intelligently choosing blocks from the image with non-relevant information in it.

Compressive Hyperspectral Imaging
Optica Imaging Congress (3D, COSI, DH, FLatOptics, IS, pcAOP), 2023Conventional hyperspectral cameras encounter a trade-off between spatial and spectral samplings while capturing an input scene. To address this problem, we propose two imaging systems: Hyperspectral Light Field Tomography (Hyper-LIFT) and Tunable Image Projection Spectrometry (TIPS).

Compressive sensing (CS) has received a lot of interest due to its compression capability and lack of complexity on the sensor side. In this paper, we present a study of three sampling patterns and investigate their performance on CS reconstruction. We then propose a new image fusion algorithm in the compressive domain by using an improved sampling ...

In this paper, we propose a novel image sensor which compresses image signals on the sensor plane. Since an image signal is compressed on the sensor plane by making use of the parallel nature of image signals, the amount of signal read out from the sensor can be significantly reduced.

On Compression of Encrypted Images
2006 International Conference on Image Processing, 2006Coding schemes for secure and efficient communication over noiseless public channels traditionally compress and then encrypt the source data. In some cases reversing the ordering of compression and encryption would be useful, e.g., in enabling the efficient distribution of protected media content.

This paper presents a very efficient image compression method well suited to the local nature of the CNN Universal Machine. In the case of lossless image compression it outperforms the JPEG image compression standard both in terms of compression efficiency and speed.
