Digital Images and Image Compression

2009
The demand for handling images in digital form has increased dramatically in recent years. Thanks to performance improvements and significant reductions in the cost of image scanners, photographs, printed text, and other media can now be easily converted into digital form (image digitization).

Breaking Boundaries: Unifying Imaging and Compression for HDR Image Compression

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing
High Dynamic Range (HDR) images present unique challenges for Learned Image Compression (LIC) due to their complex domain distribution compared to Low Dynamic Range (LDR) images. In coding practice, HDR-oriented LIC typically adopts preprocessing steps (e.g., perceptual quantization and tone mapping operation) to align the distributions between LDR and

On Relation of Image Compression and Image Association

Fundamenta Informaticae, 1997
Based on two image compression schemes (MIT and RNS), it is shown that it is possible to associate similar object images using their intermediate representation. Thus both methods can be applied to large image database for both goals: high quality image compression and reliable search for queries by image content.

Image Compression – Facial Images

2010
The sparse-representation viewpoint discussed so far, along with dictionary-learning, is merely that – a viewpoint. The theoretical results we have given merely tell us that sparse modeling is, in favorable cases, a mathematically well-founded enterprize with practically useful computational tools.
