The relationship between compression force, image quality and radiation dose in mammography

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Radiology, 2009
Background. Mammography aims to obtain mammograms of best possible image quality with least possible radiation dose.1 Theoretically, an increase in breast compression gives a reduction in thickness, without changing the density, resulting in improved ...

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

SAR image compression using optronic processing

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
SAR image compression is important for space-borne SAR systems. Many compression methods were proposed, conventional methods were based on digital processing. Traditional methods are much computation and storage consumption. A novel SAR image compression

Imaging via Compressive Sampling [Introduction to compressive sampling and recovery via convex programming] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
There is an extensive body of literature on image compression, but the central concept is straightforward: we transform the image into an appropriate basis and then code only the important expansion coefficients.

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

UAV Image High Fidelity Compression Algorithm Based on Generative Adversarial Networks Under Complex Disaster Conditions

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper proposes an improved image high fidelity compression algorithm based on the generative adversarial networks (GANs) to deal with the problem that the UAV image has a large amount of data which is not conducive to post-processing.

Clustering-Based Quantisation for PDE-Based Image Compression

open access: yes, 2017
Finding optimal data for inpainting is a key problem in the context of partial differential equation based image compression. The data that yields the most accurate reconstruction is real-valued.

TRPM8 levels determine tumor vulnerability to channel agonists

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRPM8 is a Ca2+ permissive channel. Regardless of the amount of its transcript, high levels of TRPM8 protein mark different tumors, including prostate, breast, colorectal, and lung carcinomas. Targeting TRPM8 with channel agonists stimulates inward calcium currents followed by emptying of cytosolic Ca2+ stores in cancer cells.
