A robust color enhancement for underwater images

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
Due to various complex factors in underwater environments. Several issues must to be considered in obtaining clear underwater images, including color cast, low contrast, blurry details, haze, climate, environment and human factors can significantly ...

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Astronomical image processing based on fractional calculus: the AstroFracTool

open access: yes, 2009
The implementation of fractional differential calculations can give new possibilities for image processing tools, in particular for those that are devoted to astronomical images analysis. As discussed in arxiv:0910.2381, the fractional differentiation is

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Photographic image enhancement and processing [PDF]

open access: yes
Image processing techniques (computer and photographic) are described which are used within the JSC Photographic Technology Division. Two purely photographic techniques used for specific subject isolation are discussed in detail.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Nonlinear Diffusion and Image Contour Enhancement

open access: yes, 2003
The theory of degenerate parabolic equations of the forms \[ u_t=(\Phi(u_x))_{x} \quad {\rm and} \quad v_{t}=(\Phi(v))_{xx} \] is used to analyze the process of contour enhancement in image processing, based on the evolution model of Sethian and Malladi.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Image Enhancement by Frequency Analysis

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Because of lighting or the quality of CMOS/CCD, poor images are often gained, which greatly affect subjective observation. Image enhancement can improve the contrast of poor image.
