Image Inpainting with Onion Convolutions
2021Recently deep learning methods have achieved a great success in image inpainting problem. However, reconstructing continuities of complex structures with non-stationary textures remains a challenging task for computer vision. In this paper, a novel approach to image inpainting problem is presented, which adapts exemplar-based methods for deep ...

Perceptually aware image inpainting
Pattern Recognition, 2018Abstract Image inpainting is a process of reconstructing missing regions, or removing unwanted objects automatically by propagating intensity and texture information from surrounding parts of the image in a visually plausible manner. We propose a new exemplar-based image inpainting algorithm, which uses the recently developed metric called the ...

Structure-based image inpainting
2016 Sixth International Conference on Image Processing Theory, Tools and Applications (IPTA), 2016Image inpainting is a dynamic field with different image processing and computer graphics applications. Most of the existing image inpainting methods lead to significant results in different applications but fail in difficult situations with high local structural variations. In this paper, a structure-based image inpainting algorithm is proposed, where

Panoptic blind image inpainting
ISA Transactions, 2023In autonomous driving, scene understanding is a critical task in recognizing the driving environment or dangerous situations. Here, a variety of factors, including foreign objects on the lens, cloudy weather, and light blur, often reduce the accuracy of scene recognition.

Denoising and inpainting SONAR images
2015 38th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP), 2015The basic principle of SONAR is to use sound to detect or locate objects, typically in the ocean. During acquisition, some pixels of SONAR images could be lost. The recovery of lost or damaged data can be done by using an inpainting algorithm. But, SONAR images are perturbed by speckle noise, so speckle reduction filters should be used to improve the ...

An automatic image inpaint tool
Proceedings of the eleventh ACM international conference on Multimedia - MULTIMEDIA '03, 2003Automatic digital inpainting is a challenge but interesting research area. This demonstration presents a tool, which uses a color interpolation mechanism to restore damaged images. The mechanism checks the variation of pixel blocks and restores pixels using different strategies.

Multi-resolution image inpainting
2003 International Conference on Multimedia and Expo. ICME '03. Proceedings (Cat. No.03TH8698), 2003Digital inpainting is an image interpolation mechanism, which can automatically restore damaged or partially removed image. Most inpainting mechanisms use a singular resolution approach on the extrapolation or interpolation of pixels. We propose a multi-resolution algorithm, which can take into consideration the different levels of details.

Exemplar-based inpainting techniques demonstrate some advantages in filling both textural and structural images, based upon the simple process of patch sampling and copying. An implicit assumption of such methods is that an exemplar patch could be found for copying.

Adaptive digital image inpainting
18th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications, 2004. AINA 2004., 2004Digital image inpainting is a technique that can repair a portion of damaged or removed image by means of automatic mechanisms. Image inpainting tools can be applied to repairing damaged historical documents. In this paper, we propose an adaptive mechanism, which is based on a color interpolation mechanism.
