Computer-Assisted Screening for Cervical Cancer Using Digital Image Processing of Pap Smear Images [PDF]
Cervical cancer can be prevented by having regular screenings to find any precancers and treat them. The Pap test looks for any abnormal or precancerous changes in the cells on the cervix. However, the manual screening of Pap smear in the microscope is subjective with poorly reproducible criteria.

Computer-assisted image processing to detect spores from the fungus Pandora neoaphidis
This contribution demonstrates an example of experimental automatic image analysis to detect spores prepared on microscope slides derived from trapping. The application is to monitor aerial spore counts of the entomopathogenic fungus Pandora neoaphidis which may serve as a biological control agent for aphids.

Digital mammography texture analysis by computer assisted image processing
We investigate the use of mammograms texture features in a clinical evaluation in mammography in order to assist in the classification of an image based on the breast tissue index. Breast tissue indices give the possibility to analyze images and determine the similarity of the images and evaluate the classification of the obtained image The measures of

A computer-assisted experiment to study the influence of the point spread function in the image formation process [PDF]
We present a new open experimental setup assisted with LabView to be used to teach the concept of the point spread function (PSF). The PSF describes the response of an image-forming system to a point object. The PSF concept is of fundamental importance in optics since the output of an image-forming system can be simulated as the convolution of the PSF ...

CAVASS: a computer-assisted visualization and analysis software system - image processing aspects [PDF]
ABSTRACT The development of the concepts within 3DVIEWNIX and of the software system 3DVIEWNIX itself dates back to the 1970s. Since then, a series of software packages for Computer Assisted Visualization and Analysis (CAVA ) of images came out from our group, 3DVIEWNIX released in 1993, being the most recent, and all were distributed with source code.
