A multicentre comparison of computer assisted image processing and display methods in scintigraphy
Physics in Medicine & Biology, 1979Using a series of 100 brain scintigrams, 50 with single 'mathematical tumours' superimposed, a comparison is made of several processing and display methods used at various institutions in the United Kingdom. The survey compares results from seven centres and includes most types of computer generated display in current use.

The goals of the present study were to develop and validate a computer-assisted, video-based image processing (CAVIP) system to measure time-dependent changes in isolated myocyte geometry during contraction and to use the CAVIP system to examine spatial characteristics of the myocyte during contraction in normal myocytes and in myocytes after ...

An intercomparison of computer assisted image processing and display methods in liver scintigraphy
Physics in Medicine & Biology, 1979A previous study (ibid., vol.24, p.547 (1979)) has assessed processing and display methods used in scintigraphy by superimposing 'mathematical tumours' onto clinically normal brain scintigrams. In this paper the technique is applied to liver scintigraphy and a selection of techniques assessed.

A Desktop Image Processing System for Computer-Assisted Orthopedic Surgery (DISOS)
1996Within the framework of our research activities in orthopedic surgery a PC-based imageprocessing system for the processing of x-ray computertomographic data has been developed. The system is used as a work platform for the investigations concerning interaction modalities, strategies and techniques for an efficient planning and execution of surgical ...

The purpose of this study was to evaluate a method for computer-assisted image processing to assess quantitatively fractional bone volume in sections of bone biopsies (part I). A second purpose was to apply this method in an experimental study to determine bone loss by measuring fractional bone area in sections of calvarial bone of gastrectomized rats ...

Computer-Assisted System for Hypertensive Risk Determination through Fundus Image Processing
2014From a fundus image, the system proposed in this paper automatically detects retinal vessels and measures some geometrical properties on them such as diameter and bifurcation angles. Its goal is to establish objective relations between different vessels, thus being able to determine cardiovascular risk or other diseases, as well as to monitor their ...

Abstract The application of computers to recently developed autoradiographic methods for studying a variety of brain processes has greatly facilitated and expanded the use of these methods. Computer-assisted image-processing systems make feasible the extraction of information from autoradiographs which is not readily accessible by manual means and the

A computerized image-processing system has been developed for quantitative analyses of the autoradiographs obtained with the [14C]deoxyglucose method. By means of this system, these cerebral metabolic images can be digitized and the resultant data can be manipulated for image construction, enhancement, enlargement, and microdensitometric analysis.

AbstractThe general objective of this study was to develop a noninva‐sive method for efficiently and reproducibly determining relative cardiac function parameters in the chick embryo. The specific objectives of the study were 1) to develop several methods for computer‐assisted image processing and quan‐titation of relative intraventricular blood ...
