Objective measurements of image quality
Tissue harmonic imaging (THI) and compound imaging have been reported clinically to improve contrast resolution, tissue differentiation and overall image quality. However, there have been limited studies to date to quantify objectively the improvements in image quality achieved with these new imaging techniques.

Image Quality of the Human Eye
Along with diffraction and aberrations, scattering also contributes to degradation of retinal image quality. Scattering occurs at the cornea and particularly in the lens. Although typically scattering is small in normal, young eyes, it is well known that it increases with age (due to changes in the crystalline lens) and after PRK refractive surgery.

A study of image quality for radar image processing [PDF]
Methods developed for image quality metrics are reviewed with focus on basic interpretation or recognition elements including: tone or color; shape; pattern; size; shadow; texture; site; association or context; and resolution.

Image concerns and the provision of quality [PDF]
In this paper, I study markets where consumers are heterogeneous with respect to both their concerns for the quality of goods and the image associated with them. Consumers with a taste for quality lend a positive image to the product of their choice and thereby increase the product's value to others.

Image quality and image resolution
2013 Seventh International Conference on Sensing Technology (ICST), 201313 years after the introduction of the first digital airborne mapping camera in the ISPRS conference 2000 in Amsterdam, several digital cameras with more than 100 MPixels per image have been made available. They are now well established in the market and have replaced the analogue mapping cameras.

We propose the concept of quality-aware image, in which certain extracted features of the original (high-quality) image are embedded into the image data as invisible hidden messages. When a distorted version of such an image is received, users can decode the hidden messages and use them to provide an objective measure of the quality of the distorted ...

An image is the result of the optical imaging process which maps physical scene properties onto a two-dimensional luminance distribution; it encodes important and useful information about the geometry of the scene and the properties of the objects located within this scene [339, 611, 687].
