Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

No-Reference Image Quality Assessment for Defocus Restoration

open access: yes, 2016
Even though both full-reference and no-reference image quality assessments are extensively applied to evaluate degraded images e.g. blurred, noised, compressed and distorted, few of them especially the no-reference species are suitable for image ...

Blockiness Estimation in Reduced Reference Mode for Image Quality Assessment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper we present blockiness estimation meter in reduced reference mode using frequency domain analysis. Since blockiness is an abrupt luminance discontinuity at the DCT block boundaries and also has periodic patterns, therefore blockiness ...

Saturation-based quality assessment for colorful multi-exposure image fusion

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, 2017
Multi-exposure image fusion is becoming increasingly influential in enhancing the quality of experience of consumer electronics. However, until now few works have been conducted on the performance evaluation of multi-exposure image fusion, especially ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

MULTIRESOLUTION IMAGE FUSION: PHASE CONGRUENCY FOR SPATIAL CONSISTENCY ASSESSMENT

open access: yes, 2010
Multiresolution and multispectral image fusion (pan-sharpening) requires proper assessment of spectral consistency but also spatial consistency. Many fusion methods resulting in perfect spectral consistency may leak spatial consistency and vice versa ...

Review of Image Quality Assessment Methods for Compressed Images. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Imaging
The compression of images for efficient storage and transmission is crucial in handling large data volumes. Lossy image compression reduces storage needs but introduces perceptible distortions affected by content, compression levels, and display ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
