Appearance-Based Salient Regions Detection Using Side-Specific Dictionaries
Image saliency detection is a very helpful step in many computer vision-based smart systems to reduce the computational complexity by only focusing on the salient parts of the image.

In Situ Manipulation of Growth Mechanisms in the Vapor–Solid–Solid Growth of GaP Nanowires
The direct observation of the Ni‐assisted GaP nanowire growth process via transmission electron microscopy reveals two different growth mechanisms by Trimethylgallium (TMGa) precursor supply variations. The decrease of TMGa flow results in the formation of Ni2P phase as growth promoters with cation exchange reaction in addition to interface diffusion ...

Learning a Saliency Evaluation Metric Using Crowdsourced Perceptual Judgments [PDF]
In the area of human fixation prediction, dozens of computational saliency models are proposed to reveal certain saliency characteristics under different assumptions and definitions. As a result, saliency model benchmarking often requires several evaluation metrics to simultaneously assess saliency models from multiple perspectives.

Titanium Oxysulfate‐Derived 1D Lepidocrocite Titanate Nanostructures
A novel synthesis protocol is presented for creating high‐quality titania nanofilaments. This method transcends the limitations of traditional techniques, leveraging a solution precipitation process fine‐tuned for lower temperatures and minimal reagent use. The result?

Room Temperature Dy Spin‐Flop Switching in Strained DyFeO3 Thin Films
The two‐spin system DyFeO3, a canted bulk antiferromagnet with a spin reorientation between 40 and 50 K is epitaxially grown as thin film with compressive in‐plane strain. As a result, the spin reorientation increased by more than 20 K and a sign‐dependent linear M(T) dependence between 100 and 400 K is measured due to an induced alignment of Dy spins.

Preferential Membrane Remodeling on Curved Biointerfaces Induced by Conjugated Oligoelectrolyte
This study explores how membrane shape influences the interaction of conjugated oligoelectrolytes (COEs) with lipid bilayers. Using a curved biointerface composed of nanobar arrays and supported lipid bilayers, it is revealed that COE intercalation preferentially remodels curved regions, forming distinct structures. These findings highlight the role of

Interfacial Yield Stress Response in Synthetic Mucin Solutions
The solution rheology of novel synthetic mucins mimicking natural mucin domains is studied. Like many natural mucin solutions, apparent solid‐like rheology is seen. However, no bulk structural features are found to explain it. Interfacial rheology and robust modelling reveal that this arises from molecular associations at the air–water interface ...

Two n‐type small molecules (DPPPy‐C10‐TN and DPPPy‐C‐Si‐TN) based on alkyl/siloxane‐substituted pyridine flanked diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPPPy) end capped with thienyl naphthalimide (TN) for organic filed effect transistors (OFETs) are reported. Interestingly, bottom‐gate top‐contact OFETs based on DPPPy‐C‐Si‐TN:SEBS blend show a high electron mobility ...

Learning Saliency Prediction From Sparse Fixation Pixel Map [PDF]
Ground truth for saliency prediction datasets consists of two types of map data: fixation pixel map which records the human eye movements on sample images, and fixation blob map generated by performing gaussian blurring on the corresponding fixation pixel map.
