Image inpainting based on image segmentation and segment classification
2013 IEEE International Conference on Control System, Computing and Engineering, 2013We present a new inpainting algorithm that is based on image segmentation and segment classification. First, we employ the mean shift algorithm to segment the input image. Then, we divide the original inpainting problem to be either one of the two problems: Large Segment Inpainting problem or Non-uniform Segments inpainting problem.

, 1980 Abstract : The problem of image texture analysis is introduced, and existing approaches are surveyed. An empirical evaluation method is applied to two texture measurement systems, co-occurrence statistics and augmented correlation statistics. A spatial-statistical class of texture measures is then defined and evaluated.

Segmentation of document images

The authors pose the segmentation operation as a statistical classification task with two pattern classes: print and background. A number of classification strategies are available. All require some prior information about the distribution of gray levels for the two classes.

An Evolutionary Approach for Image Segmentation
Evolutionary Computation, 2014The paper explores the use of evolutionary techniques in dealing with the image segmentation problem. An image is modeled as a weighted undirected graph, where nodes correspond to pixels, and edges connect similar pixels. A genetic algorithm that uses a fitness function based on an extension of the normalized cut criterion is proposed.
