A discussion of image sharpness [PDF]

open access: yes
The image sharpness problem is discussed in terms of a scene which is viewed by a sensor. The sensor has some sort of function which is a nonpoint observing function, and it's a function that gathers energy from some region around a point in the scene ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Improving the geometric fidelity of imaging systems employing sensor arrays [PDF]

open access: yes
A sensor assembly to be carried on an aircraft or spacecraft which will travel along an arbitrary flight path, for providing an image of terrain over which the craft travels, is disclosed.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Normalizing and Converting Image DC Data Using Scatter Plot Matching

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2010
Remote sensing image data from sources such as Landsat or airborne multispectral digital cameras are typically in the form of digital count (DC) values.

Attitude tracker [PDF]

open access: yes
Line array sensors produce data which has no inherent geometrical continuity. Hence, any platform attitude variation will be evidenced as a distortion when the data lines are displayed in the normal Cartesian raster.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The Design of a Single-Bit CMOS Image Sensor for Iris Recognition Applications

open access: yesSensors, 2018
This paper presents a single-bit CMOS image sensor (CIS) that uses a data processing technique with an edge detection block for simple iris segmentation. In order to recognize the iris image, the image sensor conventionally captures high-resolution image
