3D Image Sharpening by Grid Warping
2015A method for sharpening of 3D volume images has been developed. The idea of the proposed algorithm is to transform the 3D neighborhood of the edge so that the neighboring pixels move closer to the edge, and then resample the image from the warped grid to the original pixel grid.

Image Sharpening by DWT-Based Hysteresis
2011Improvement of edge details in an image is basically a process of extracting high frequency details from the image and then adding this information to the blurred image. In this paper we propose an image sharpening technique in which high frequency details are extracted using wavelet transforms and then added with the blurred image to enhance the edge ...

Iterative sharpening for image contrast enhancement
2015 Colour and Visual Computing Symposium (CVCS), 2015In this paper, the problem of iterative sharpening for local contrast enhancement is addressed. We present a fast algorithm that spreads the high frequencies of an image to successively lower resolutions resulting in an improvement in sharpness and local contrast. The algorithm is similar to the well established unsharp masking with certain fundamental

Image Sharpening by Holography
1972Greatly sharpened images may be extracted from photographs which have been blurred either by accident or by unsurmountable instrumental imperfections. In simple words, it has recently become truly possible to turn a bad photograph into a good image in a great number of situations, including cases when photographs were blurred by motion, imperfect focus,

A Conservative Sharpening Filter for Interpolated Images
2020 33rd SIBGRAPI Conference on Graphics, Patterns and Images (SIBGRAPI), 2020Interpolation methods are computationally efficient and rather effective for magnification from low-resolution images in order to generate higher resolution images. However, blur and other undesirable visual artifacts are often produced during the process.

Text and image sharpening of scanned images in the JPEG domain
Proceedings of International Conference on Image Processing, 2002The visual quality of scanned color documents suffers because of inherent limitations in color scanners. In cases where the scanned documents will also be compressed using the JPEG standard, we present a new technique that sharpens the compressed images in the DCT domain.

Atmospherically induced phase perturbations have for years limited the resolution of large optical astronomical telescopes. A prototype telescope system with six movable elements has successfully corrected these phase perturbations. This use of real-time image sharpening has restored stellar images to the diffraction limit (in one dimension) for a 30 ...

Adaptive optics by image sharpening
Annual Meeting Optical Society of America, 1985A typical wave front sensor in an adaptive optical imaging system requires a point source or a glint on the object to operate, as do the various image-based phase retrieval methods. However, with the image sharpening method,1,2 one can sense the aberrations from the aberrated image of a point or extended object.

The COPII cage sharpens its image
Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, 2013Self-assembly of the COPII coat proteins Sec13 and Sec31 creates a spherical cage that drives vesicle formation from the endoplasmic reticulum. A multipronged approach now provides a convincing pseudoatomic model of the assembled cage that sharpens our understanding of the architecture, contact sites and flexibility of this remarkable structure.
