Image Stego Detection using Higher Order Statistics

open access: yesمجلة النهرين للعلوم الهندسية, 2010
The basic approach taken here works by finding predictable higher-order statistics of natural images within a multi-scale decomposition, and then showing that embedded messages alter these statistics. A Fisher linear discriminant analysis is then used

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

The perceived beauty of art is not strongly calibrated to the statistical regularities of real-world scenes

open access: yesScientific Reports
Aesthetic judgements are partly predicted by image statistics, although the extent to which they are calibrated to the statistics of real-world scenes and the ‘visual diet’ of daily life is unclear.

Image statistics and surface perception

open access: yesJournal of Vision, 2008
Images have characteristic statistics that can be characterized in terms of the responses of wavelet or Gabor-like filters. There has been a great deal of interest in the fact that images have sparse (kurtotic) statistics in the wavelet domain, with implications for efficient image encoding in biological and artificial systems.

Visuanimation in statistics

open access: yes, 2015
This paper explores the use of visualization through animations, coined visuanimation, in the field of statistics. In particular, it illustrates the embedding of animations in the paper itself and the storage of larger movies in the online supplemental ...

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Interactive Evolutionary Algorithms for Image Enhancement and Creation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Image enhancement and creation, particularly for aesthetic purposes, are tasks for which the use of interactive evolutionary algorithms would seem to be well suited.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...
