Telephone Transmission of Radiographic Images
Radiology, 1978A new system for telecommunication of radiographic images using readily available telephone transmission circuitry is described. The resulting video images were satisfactory for accurate interpretation in 80% of the cases tested. The system is moderately priced and has facilitated maintenance of radiodiagnostic interpretive services at a satellite ...

Progressive image transmission based on image projections
Proceedings of 1st International Conference on Image Processing, 2002We present a progressive image transmission coder, where geometrical vector quantization is applied to overlapped image projections. Progressive image transmission is widely used in many applications, because it offers successive improved reconstructions of an image.

Error recovery in JPEG2000 image transmission
2001 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37221), 2002In this paper, the problem of bit-errors recovery in JPEG2000 images transmission is addressed, with particular attention to errors in the high-frequency components. In the HL and LH sub-bands, differently from the LL band, interpolation based recovering results tend to be often ineffective when more than a few adjacent wavelet coefficients are missing.

CBIT - context-based image transmission
IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine, 2001Few networks offer sufficient bandwidth for the transmission of high resolution two- and three-dimensional medical image sets without incurring significant latency. Traditional compression methods achieve bit-rate reduction based on pixel statistics and ignore visual cues that are important in identifying visually informative regions.

Radiological PACS image sizes and desired retrieval response times demand high-bandwidth communication networks. Local area network technology at speeds higher that 10 Megabits/second (IEEE 802.3) have not achieved standardization nor production volume.

Scanning Transmission Imaging in the AEM
1990The aim of this laboratory session is to introduce the scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM), used in this and other analytical electron microscopy (AEM) laboratory sessions, and to demonstrate the various imaging modes available. The experimental control that the operator has over the information in the image will be emphasized.

Managing bandwidth utilisation for image transmission
SMC'98 Conference Proceedings. 1998 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (Cat. No.98CH36218), 2002Few networks offer sufficient bandwidth for the transmission of high resolution 2-D and 3-D medical image sets without incurring significant latency. Traditional compression methods do not resolve this problem because, in most cases, the latency in decoding compressed data is similar to, or greater than, the reduction in transmission latency achieved ...

Peer-to-peer transmission of JPEG2000 images
CCNC 2006. 2006 3rd IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference, 2006., 2006JPEG2000, a successor of JPEG, offers highly scalable image coding as one of its features. This scalable feature and its superior coding performance make it very attractive for transmission over peer-to-peer networks. In this paper, we study two algorithms aimed for different applications.

Wireless transmission of images using jpeg2000
2004 International Conference on Image Processing, 2004. ICIP '04., 2005A novel scheme is proposed for the transmission of JPEG2000 image streams over wireless channels. The proposed scheme exploits the block-based coding structure of the JPEG2000 streams and employs optimized product codes consisting of Turbo codes and Reed-Solomon codes in order to deal effectively with burst errors.
