Understanding the role of microcrystalline cellulose for the development of high fidelity 3D printing of Kraft lignin filaments via fusion deposition modeling

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Fliament development and print optimisation. Abstract A 3D Benchy was successfully printed using kraft lignin as the primary component of a fused deposition modeling (FDM) filament. The filament was produced by compounding the kraft lignin (TcC) with thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and adding up to 10% of micro crystalline cellulose (MCC).

Effect of Ozone Aging and ZnO Doping on the Mechanical, Thermal, and Chemical Properties of Glass‐Epoxy Composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Ozone aging of ZnO doped glass‐epoxy composites: Impoved strength and stability. ABSTRACT This study explores the effects of ozone exposure and ZnO doping on the mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties of glass‐epoxy composites. Composite samples were subjected to ozone aging under controlled conditions and were modified with 1%, 2%, and 4% ZnO ...

Performance and Failure Mechanisms of Interleaved E‐Glass/Epoxy Composites Using Knitted Fiber‐Reinforced Adhesive Films

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Interleaved E‐Glass/Epoxy Composites with Knitted Fiber‐Reinforced Adhesive Films. ABSTRACT In this study, an adhesive film with embedded knitted fibers is utilized as the interleaved layer to evaluate the effect of carrier fibers on delamination resistance, crack migration, and R‐curve behavior in glass fiber/epoxy composites.

Investigation of Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Modified Silica Aerogels/Epoxy/Aramid Composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Production process of amine‐modified silica aerogel reinforced aramid/epoxy composite (EAFS). ABSTRACT Due to its high pore size and low density, amine‐modified silica aerogel (XSA) is an excellent candidate for the secondary reinforcement material of polymer matrix composites.
