Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Software is an essential tool for the scanning electron microscopist and X-ray microanalyst (SEMXM). In the past, software was an important optional means of augmenting the electron microscope and X-ray spectrometer, permitting powerful additional analysis and enabling new characterization methods that were not possible with bare instrumentation. Today,

SparkMaster: automated calcium spark analysis with ImageJ [PDF]
Ca sparks are elementary Ca-release events from intracellular Ca stores that are observed in virtually all types of muscle. Typically, Ca sparks are measured in the line-scan mode with confocal laser-scanning microscopes, yielding two-dimensional images (distance vs. time).

ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Loss of strumpellin in the melanocytic lineage impairs the WASH Complex but does not affect coat colour [PDF]
The five-subunit WASH complex generates actin networks that participate in endocytic trafficking, migration and invasion in various cell types. Loss of one of the two subunits WASH or strumpellin in mice is lethal, but little is known about their role in

BACK TO THE “GOLD STANDARD”: HOW PRECISE IS HEMATOCRIT DETECTION TODAY?
Introduction: The commonly used method for hematocrit detection, by visual examination of microcapillary tube, known as "micro-HCT", is subjective but still remains one of the key sources for false hematocrit evaluation. Analytical automation techniques
