Three aspects of the VVIQ that are related to the S's naive thinking about mental imagery are considered: the S's theory of imagery, his or her idea of vividness, and the use of the vividness rating scale.

Phraseology of a language is without a doubt an aspect of language that is by far the richest in imagery. Images serve as mechanisms for idiom comprehension, even in cases of idioms that are opaque at first sight. The ability to understand modified idioms serves as a further confirmation of this claim.
