An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Denoising of SAR images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Matter of discussion in this Ph. D. thesis is SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) image denoising. Main elements of innovation are the introduction of SAR-BM3D, a denoising algorithm optimized for SAR data, and the introduction of a benchmark which enables ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Prenatal ultrasound assisted diagnosis of de-novo terminal 7q deletion syndrome: A case report with literature review

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports
Terminal 7q deletion is a rare chromosomal anomaly resulting from partial deletion of the long arm of chromosome 7. 7q terminal deletion syndrome results in variable clinical phenotypes, such as microcephaly, holoprosencephaly, craniofacial abnormalities,

A Survey of Density Estimation for SAR Images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Modeling of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images has been an important topic of research since the inception of SAR satellites. Many theoretical and empirical models have been presented in literature to accurately model the amplitude SAR images. The

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
