Fluid Biomarkers of Disease Burden and Cognitive Dysfunction in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Identifying objective biomarkers for progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is crucial to improving diagnosis and establishing clinical trial and treatment endpoints. This study evaluated fluid biomarkers in PSP versus controls and their associations with regional 18F‐PI‐2620 tau‐PET, clinical, and cognitive outcomes.

Hopfield Neural Networks for Online Constrained Parameter Estimation With Time‐Varying Dynamics and Disturbances

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This paper proposes two projector‐based Hopfield neural network (HNN) estimators for online, constrained parameter estimation under time‐varying data, additive disturbances, and slowly drifting physical parameters. The first is a constraint‐aware HNN that enforces linear equalities and inequalities (via slack neurons) and continuously tracks the ...

Paracosms: The Imaginary Worlds of Middle Childhood

open access: yesChild Development, 2018
The invention of imaginary worlds (“paracosms”) is a creative activity of middle childhood that has previously been investigated primarily with retrospective adult reports and biographical accounts. In descriptions collected from 8‐ to 12‐year‐old children, the prevalence was 16.9% in Study 1 ( n

Exploring Dipolar Dynamics and Ionic Transport in Metal‐Organic Frameworks: Experimental and Theoretical Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Moral Particularism and the Role of Imaginary Cases: A Pragmatist Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
I argue that John Dewey’s analysis of imagination enables an account of learning from imaginary cases consistent with Jonathan Dancy’s moral particularism.
