Phantom kidney on perfusion renal imaging

Seminars in Nuclear Medicine, 1984
A 67-year-old male presented with sudden onset of right flank pain and anuria. On examination he had signs of acute renal failure. An intravenous urogram showed a large right kidney with poor filling of the lower pole calyceal system suspicious for having a renal mass. The left kidney was not visualized. Renal ultrasonogram showed that the right kidney

Nonlinear elasticity imaging: Theory and phantom study

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2004
In tissue the Young's modulus cannot be assumed constant over a wide deformation range. For example, direct mechanical measurements on human prostate show up to a threefold increase in Young's modulus over a 10% deformation. In conventional elasticity imaging, these effects produce strain-dependent elastic contrast.

The Charles Bonnet Syndrome: ‘Phantom Visual Images’

Perception, 1991
The Charles Bonnet syndrome is a condition in which individuals experience complex visual hallucinations without demonstrable psychopathology or disturbance of normal consciousness. An analysis of the sixty-four cases described in the literature reveals that the syndrome can occur at any age though it is more common in elderly people.

Quality assurance phantom for digital dental imaging

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and Endodontology, 2011
The purpose of this research was to develop a simple quality assurance phantom that could be used for the initial calibration and follow-up testing of commercially available intraoral digital imaging systems.A radiographic phantom was constructed that contains a calibrated step wedge for measuring dose response, an etched pattern of slits in a metallic

Multiparameter solid phantom for fluorescence imaging standardization

Clinical and Preclinical Optical Diagnostics, 2017
Despite recent advances in fluorescence imaging, standardization of systems remains an unmet need. We developed a new comprehensive phantom that resolves multiple system parameters simultaneously and could be used for system performance comparison.

Monte Carlo image reconstruction of a mammographic phantom

The 26th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2005
The aim of this study is the development of a methodology to reconstruct via Monte Carlo techniques the radiographic image of the CIRS 11 A (MAMMO PHANTOM SP01) phantom. This phantom is used in image quality assessment during quality control tests in breast screening locations and other health centers.

Development of a novel phantom for tau PET imaging

Physica Medica
The cortical uptake of tau positron emission tomography (PET) tracers corresponds to the Braak stage and reflects the distribution and progression of tau neurofibrillary tangles. The present study aimed to develop and validate the basic performance of a novel tau PET phantom, as well as to establish standard test procedures and analytical methods. The ...
