Applicability analysis of GPM-IMERG daily precipitation data in Inner Mongolia

open access: yes暴雨灾害, 2020
The applicability of GPM-IMERG daily precipitation data is analysed by comparing daily precipitation data of GPM-IMERG and 119 meteorological stations in Inner Mongolia from 2015 to 2017, in order to provide scientific basis for the application of GPM ...

Comparative evaluation of GPM near-real-time precipitation products during the 20 July 2021 extreme rainfall event in Henan Province

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2022
Near-real-time satellite precipitation retrievals have the advantages of wide coverage, spatial continuity, short latency and open access, serving as an important precipitation data source that is globally available. For the 20 July 2021 extreme rainfall

Evaluation of GPM IMERG Satellite Precipitation Products in Event-Based Flood Modeling over the Sunshui River Basin in Southwestern China

open access: yesRemote Sensing
This study evaluates the applicability of hourly Global Precipitation Measurement Mission (GPM) Integrated Multi-satellitE Retrievals for GPM (IMERG) data for event-based flood modeling in the Sunshui River Basin, southwestern China, using the hydrologic

Performance Evaluation of the MPAS Model in Simulating Southeast Asian Rainfall Characteristics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
This study evaluates the performance of the Model for Prediction Across Scales–Atmosphere (MPAS) in reproducing key rainfall characteristics over Southeast Asia (SEA) during 2000–2020, using the MSWEP dataset as reference. MPAS realistically captures the observed meridional rainfall gradient, with higher rainfall in the south and lower in the north, as

Spatiotemporal variation in precipitation during rainy season in Beibu Gulf, South China, from 1961 to 2016 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The spatiotemporal variation in precipitation is an important part of water cycle change, which is directly associatedwith the atmospheric environment and climate change.

Seasonal Characteristics of Mesoscale Convective Systems Over the Philippines

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
This study examines how mesoscale convective systems (MCSs) over the Philippines are most frequent during boreal summer, while those in winter are longer‐lived and more intense due to cold surges and enhanced easterly moisture transport. Intraseasonal oscillations, such as the Madden‐Julian Oscillation (MJO) and the Boreal Summer Intraseasonal ...

Evaluation of IMERG and ERA5 precipitation products over the Mongolian Plateau

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
AbstractPrecipitation is an important component of the hydrological cycle and has significant impact on ecological environment and social development, especially in arid areas where water resources are scarce. As a typical arid and semi-arid region, the Mongolian Plateau is ecologically fragile and highly sensitive to climate change.

Tropical Cyclone Rainfall Spatial Asymmetries in the Lesser Antilles

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Rainfall is not proportional to the Saffir‐Simpson wind‐based categories. Lower category tropical cyclones (TS, H1, H2 and H3) can generate more intense rainfall than H4 and H5. Rainfall is asymmetric; as a tropical cyclone intensifies or weakens, the location of peak rainfall shifts.
