ZFIRE: Using H$\alpha$ equivalent widths to investigate the in situ initial mass function at z~2 [PDF]
We use the ZFIRE survey (http://zfire.swinburne.edu.au) to investigate the high mass slope of the initial mass function (IMF) for a mass-complete (log10(M$_*$/M$_\odot$)~9.3) sample of 102 star-forming galaxies at z~2 using their H$\alpha$ equivalent ...

ABSTRACT This study explored fasting‐induced physiological remodeling effects on meat quality in aged laying hens. Fasting for 15 days (F15) significantly reduced abdominal fat, intermuscular fat width, subcutaneous fat thickness, and liver index versus pre‐fasting (F0) (p < 0.05), which recovered post‐refeeding.

Schematic diagram illustrating how miR‐222 promotes bovine intramuscular adipogenesis by targeting DDIT4 to activate the mTORC1 signaling pathway. ABSTRACT Intramuscular fat (IMF) is a key determinant of beef quality, particularly with respect to tenderness, flavor, and juiciness.

The stellar and sub-stellar IMF of simple and composite populations
The current knowledge on the stellar IMF is documented. It appears to become top-heavy when the star-formation rate density surpasses about 0.1Msun/(yr pc^3) on a pc scale and it may become increasingly bottom-heavy with increasing metallicity and in ...

Understanding the paradox of primary teacher shortage in low‐income countries: Insights from Malawi
Abstract Malawi faces a persistent and chronic teacher shortage, particularly at the primary school level, with much of the challenge attributed to teacher supply constraints. While the causes of teacher shortages are known to be complex and context‐dependent, there remains a lack of in‐depth, country‐specific research to guide effective policies ...

The non-universality of the low-mass end of the IMF is robust against the choice of SSP model [PDF]
We perform a direct comparison of two state-of-the art single stellar population (SSP) models that have been used to demonstrate the non-universality of the low-mass end of the Initial Mass Function (IMF) slope.
